Ripening in purple


This picture was taken in Chikusei , September 2008. When I was to see the steam locomotive . The berry is Japanese Beautyberry . Growing ripe, it becomes purple. In Japanese , it is named Murasaki Shikibu for the first Japanese literary woman. Murasaki is meaning purple in Japanese. She is well known as the author of the Tale of Genji.
